Turtles are symbols of peace, tranquility, strength, stability, immortality, benevolence and wisdom.
A Native American legend describes the earth as sitting on a turtleês back.
Turtles living at a Buddhist Temple in Thailand are believed to house human souls that are on their way to Nirvana.
As stones cairns are left by travelers to mark and pay homage to the earth, I make turtles out of pebbles, rocks, whatever I find and leave them on river banks, in forests, by the side of the road or on mountain peaks.
