Two Chairs — Conversations
In the winter of 2022, Lyedie Geer and I decided to get together for some conversation. Inspired by Lyedie’s blue chair blog, I packed a purple velvet chair inherited from my mother in the car and drove with my husband Blase to Putney, Vermont. Blase was helping us unload and asked, “Just what is it that you two are doing? Where are you going with this?”

We both shrugged and our voices responded in concert, ”We don’t know yet, but we are having fun!”

We loved our conversation and decided she would travel to the farm for our next meeging. We leap-frogged with our thoughts and ideas, and after one more session decided it would be fun to make a film. I asked David Shapiro who recently made a film about the farm. He said he would and his sister would be sound person.

In this first Two Chairs Conversation, we explore pruning — daring to make those cuts — in the orchard and in one’s own life.

We hope you enjoy these conversations as we talk about how we struggle, how we change, and how we choose to live with creativity and joy. We’re still having fun with all of this, so stay tuned for more conversations in the coming months.
